I'll call you, I'll text you
I’ll chat and keep chatting
I won't say I want to see you
I don't think it’s something you’d like
If it's a dream that doesn't come true, I don't wanna see it
You laugh through the monitor
It's a convenient era
But I don't wanna talk about pointless things on a night like this
What I really want to know about you
Is the feel of that soft hair
and the warmth of that hand
Is science really like this?
Ubiquitous-like, only by name?
I can't wait any longer
Do you have a warp device yet?
"I won't say I want to see you
I don't think it’s something you’d like"
I just want you to see through the lie I’m telling
You know, right?
If it's not with you in the flesh
I can't! do anything!
I'll call you, I'll text you
I’ll chat and keep chatting
I wanna touch that hand
I wanna touch〈censored〉too
If I get close to the real you
I can smell your skin, right?
I wanna touch your lips
I wanna suck your〈censored〉
Hey, is that so wrong?
Hey, is that so wrong?
Hey, is that so wrong?
Hey, is that so wrong?
Halle Uchida Commentary
This is a song about long-distance relationships. We live in an age where technology makes it possible to convey our feelings and see each other’s faces through phone calls and emails. But no matter what, we still can’t teleport over and touch the other person. I wrote this song while recalling my own experience of feeling overwhelmed by frustration with this imperfect era and by the ever-growing desire to “touch and be held.” The part marked “〈censored〉” is where I self-censored the lyrics, so please use your imagination to fill in the blanks. I had planned to add animation, but my motivation ran out surprisingly quickly, so this time I’m just uploading the song. I hope that someday I’ll be able to add animation to it.
